II. Award Presentation
A. Michelle and Hannah went to a Relay For Life Summit Event
1. At the event, they were presented with an award for our school
2. We were given the Leader of Hope Award
a. In order to get this award, we need to participate in Conference Calls throughout the course of a school year
b. The Conference Calls are a chance to hear information on various subjects, as led by the American Cancer Society and with numerous schools involved and ready to share ideas
B. We do want to uphold this award, and will be holding various Conference Calls throughout this year as well, which we will give you more information on in the coming meetings

III. T-Shirts
A. Our t-shirts which say, Save The Boobs, have finally arrived!

E. Still, we will try to have baked goods for sale
1. If you would like to donate a baked good, or make some boob cookies, we'd really appreciate it
E. Since we will be selling goods during the event, we will be having people table on a rotating schedule
F. We will also need to start advertising for the event, so please make sure to put up your fliers and tell all of your friends!

V. Brandeis Records Concert with CAC
A. Brandeis Records is a music group on campus that holds benefit concerts
B. On November 5th, we will work alongside this group and split the donations from the event between our two groups
C. The concert is from 9pm-12am
D. This will be our first official Relay for Life fundraiser!

VI. Hope Lodge
A. We will be visiting Hope Lodge on November 15th, from 6:30-9pm
B. Various activities that we brainstormed for the event are: manicures for the girls, various board games (Apples to Apples, Banana Grams, Catch Phrase), cards, an arts and crafts project (perhaps making bracelets with beads or a winter themed craft)

VII. Great American Smoke Out
A. This is an event that the American Cancer Society created to help smokers around the country make the resolution to quit smoking.  Since it is an event that takes place in various states all over, it shows smokers that they have support and people who care that they quit.
B. GASO will take place on November 18th, 2010
C. Sarah has a giant cigarette that we will use as a prop, and in previous years, we have handed out "quit packs" to smokers
D. We will also hand out dum-dums on Rabb steps and outside of Usdan with little facts about lung cancer on them
E. We will also have signs on campus like they do in the Truth campaign
1. These signs will have numbers on one side, with facts that relate to those numbers on the other side, to grab people's attention as they walk on campus
F. We may also make a chalk outline 30 feet from the major buildings on campus to show people how far they have to be from them to smoke
G. We will gather all materials and prepare them on the 17th, so please be sure to be at the meeting to help out!
H. Ideas for events for GASO: bowling down the giant cigarette, pinata, raffle tickets if you turn in your cigarettes which will be entered into a drawing for a prize, "blow bubbles don't smoke"

Our next meeting will be on November 3rd, at 9pm in SCC 313!

3. There also may be a breast cancer survivor come and tell us her story
D. T-Shirts
1. The t-shirts that we designed will be coming slightly late, but they will be here!

II. CAs Sport Event
A. The CAs have arranged a program that will take place in Zivwood Commons on the 24th (Sunday)
1. This event will be something of the sort where soccer goals will be set up and people will pay to take aim at one of the goals (where a goalie will be placed) and attempt to make a goal
2. There will be prizes if you make a goal
3. They want to get at least 50 people to attend to help make the event successful
4. They also hope to have healthy foods at the event
5.  Fliering will be handled by the CAs
6. There will be more information available later, and an email will be sent out about it too

3. Chairing or co-chairing a committee is a lot of time and work, so please be aware of that when applying

1. However, there is the possibility that Relay meetings will take place in the morning in Gosman again this year like in the past

There will be no meeting next week, October 20th.

C. We do not get money for buying clothing or food as a club
D. We also do not get money directly from the F-board that can go to a donation, it's there to help fund events we hold

2. We are hoping to get bras donated and tape petitions that people will sign on some, and stories on others
3. Afterward, we will send the bras to the Senate to help promote the petition
4. The petition this year will likely be focused on providing more mammograms at a cheaper cost so that more women can access this life-saving procedure
5. If we cannot get bras donated, then we will just have a petition for people to sign
6. This event will need people to table in Lower Usdan during the day and we will have a sign-up chart going around during the next meeting
E. October 21st - Thursday Night
1. This will likely be a predominantly ladies' night event in Ridgewood Commons from 8pm - 11pm
2. A nurse practitioner from the Health Center will come to show the proper way to perform a self-mammography

5. There will also be pink goodies there
F. During the week, we will hand out pink ribbons and put up pink fliers (from Gia) and door hangers with information on them
1. The ribbons may take place on Rabb or in Usdan, and then the fliers and door hangers will be put up in certain dorms

i. Sarah Koenig will be in charge of the CAC shirts, so if you'd like to be involved in that process, you can get in touch with her

V. Coffeehouse
A. Our Coffeehouse is November 4th from 9pm to 12am

C. Each call is around 30 minutes
D. At the next meeting we will pass out a sign-up sheet for the calls
E. We would like to maintain our tradition of being a Leader of Hope which involves participating in 5 different calls over the course of the year

VIII. Survivor Support Group
A. We are hoping to form a survivor support group by the spring semester
B. This will be a group that meets once a month, perhaps the first Sunday of each month, to discuss their experiences in a group of peers
C. If you know a survivor who may want to be involved, let us know

IX. Relay
A. We will hopefully have the date for Relay by our next meeting
B. Meeting for Relay will alternate with meetings for CAC, in the same room at the same time
C. Sarah will send out information on chair positions which you will need to apply for
1. Since Relay is such a large undertaking, we are looking for experienced people to be committee chairs, which usually means that you have participated in a Relay committee before, either here or in another, outside Relay
2. However, many chairs will be co-chaired, and there will be committees under each chair, so if you are interested in participating, but worry about being a chair, these options are great to help learn more about the Relay process and still be involved
D. The Relay website is up and running, and we already have some teams!  Visit it at: www.relayforlife.org/brandeisuniversity
E. Jessica Gokhberg is CAC team captain, so if you'd like to join the CAC team or would like more information about it, contact her
F. Also, WBRS may want to help out this year and DJ

Our next meeting will be on October 13th at 9pm in SCC 313!
